Question by Lucy-Anne J: How does one remove cooking oils that have stained a white marble pastry cooking surface?

Cooking oils and oil from prepared foods have seeped into the white marble pastry preparation surface. I can not remove the oil stain no matter what cleansers I have tries.

Because white marble is very porous, you may not be able to get all of the stains out depending on how old they are. Try making a paste with bicarbonate of soda and very little water and let it sit for a while. If that does not work try either a paste with corn starch or a fine polishing and whitening toothpaste and gently rub the toothpaste in with a soft sponge or a fine synthetic steel wool (3M pad). Rinse with clear water when you are done. Good luck!
